The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
